This week feels like it has taken forever because of our schedule change but we have more time to study which I'm happy about and my companion has more time to sleep which he his happy about. See the picture below.
Well I now have a week and a half until I am on an airplane headed to Japan and I couldn't be more excited! These next few days are crucial as I am preparing myself as best as I can.
We finally got our kohai (new missionaries) so that was super exciting and pretty much all of them except like two sisters went to BYU. That's pretty crazy. Also all but two elders are going to Tokyo so that's pretty sweet to see that they will be in the same mission as me.
Below is a picture of me with Marcus Larson. Marcus is a neighbor and friend of Mason's from our Ward here in Pleasanton. He entered the MTC last week and will be serving his mission in Costa Rica. He's doing pretty good I think. Every time I see him he says stuff in Spanish so he's really taking that in which is good for him.
Also thanks for the package I'm trying to find time to eat all of it but no worries nothing is going to waste over here. While I was in Utah, I found a service that would deliver up to 40lbs of stuff to Mason for only $3.00, so I sent him a box full of some of his favorite treats.
Well last night Elder Bednar came to the MTC and spoke and it was broadcast to MTC's all over the world. It was the most amazing, spiritual experience I have ever had and wish I could go back. The title of his talk was "One by One" which was also the title of his song. He started off by asking everyone to pray for special focus because he said tonight I am going to speak in a way I have never before spoken before and will probably never be able to speak like this again. He talked about how every assignment he goes on there are people there God has sent him to bless one by one. There are no coincidences with God. Every interaction and experience happens for a reason because people are blessed one by one. In 3rd Nephi 11 it talks about how the Nephite's felt Jesus's wounds one by one and were blessed one by one. That would take for ever yet God wants us to know he cares about us and knows what each of us is going through one by one. He also talked about how as missionaries we go two by two to teach one by one. Each person has specific needs and they will be met one by one. He also said one of the most profound things I have ever heard in my life. He said the first word God said to man in this dispensation was "Joseph". Wow that's amazing. He knew Joseph personally and addressed him by name. He didn't say I have a job for you he said Joseph this is my son and this is his gospel and he will tell you what to do. He knew him personally just like he knows us personally. Joseph, Kris, Steve, Kenji, Olivia, Sam, Matt, John, Travis, Kyoshi, Zlatan, or whatever your name is, God knows you. It doesn't matter who you are or what you believe he knows you and he cares about you personally and wants to do everything to help you. You just have to reach out to him. He can strengthen you in times of need. He can calm you in times of fear or anger. God cares for everyone and I am on a mission to do gods will and to help people realize that. I love Elder Bednar and I love Heavenly Father and I know he loves me and I know he loves you. He has a will and expectations for me and I am going to do my best to know those expectations, to know that will, and to be prepared so that I can teach people and affect people One By One.
And yes I was in the choir and yes I was on the screen and yes the song will be published in next months Ensign or New Era. It is amazing and has such a spirit about it!
Remember God loves and cares about you so thank him and let him know you care by being the best you can be and helping people one by one.
Here are the words to Elder Bednar's song that the missionary choir sang:
1. One by one, one by one.
Jesus, the Fa-ther’s Beloved Son—
One by one, one by one—
From the beginning said, “Thy will be done.”
Jesus Christ came to earth to fulfill God’s plan,
For He alone could atone as Savior of man.
The Lord blessed and beckoned them, “Come unto me,”
And willingly sacrificed to set us free.
One by one, one by one.
He suffered for us and victory won.
One by one, one by one.
We marvel at all His love has done,
One by one.
2. One by one, one by one.
Multitudes gathered and saw Him come.
One by one, one by one.
Each heard a voice declare, “Behold My Son.”
Jesus Christ came and stood in the midst of them.
They fell to the earth in great rev’rence for Him.
The Lord bid, “Arise, and come forth unto me.”
With hands they did feel and with eyes they did see.
One by one, one by one.
Each knew and bore record, He is our Lord.
One by one, one by one.
They cried “Hosanna” with one accord,
One by one.
3. One by one, one by one.
Christ looked around Him and saw their tears.
One by one, one by one.
In His compassion, He calmed their fears.
Jesus Christ healed each one brought forth unto Him.
Then He blessed each precious child and prayed for them.
The angels descended from heaven above,
Encircling those little ones; each felt His love.
Love you guys so much!
I'm on God's errand now and I have a calling to fulfill!!!!!
Love,
Elder Bloomfield
P.s. Next time you hear from me I will be less than a week away from being in Japan helping people one by one!
