Week 6 - Elder Runland's visit and ?けんじわ美しい - 27 May 2016

Dang!!! Nice work Kara! Mom! Vegas to birth in one day?! Nice work!
Well not much to report this week. Time is flying by and Japanese
isn't. It's alright though it will come eventually. I'm pretty excited
cause next week we are getting two districts of kohai! 16 new
missionaries in our branch. Also I was released from being a Zone Leader
this past Sunday cause the branch presidency wanted to give other people
leadership opportunities. Sooooo now I'm the District Leader. Off from
one and on to the other. Also some more news, apparently my branch is
a pilot branch so we have a different schedule than the other two
branches so because of this my schedule is changing to match the
schedule of the other two branches. So my p day next week will
probably be on Wednesday starting next week. Um also next week is
technically week 7 of the MTC so in about three and a half weeks I
will be in NIHON!!! I'm so excited. I'm also thinking that on Monday I
will only speak in Japanese so that it gets better and forces me to
learn more words and grammar.

Also on Tuesday we had Elder Runland of the Twelve Apostles come and speak at
the MTC and that was way sweet. Here are my notes from his talk:

ELDER RUNLAND
May 24, 2016
I have been called by prophecy to serve as a full time missionary
Must first teach repentance
Repentance is based on faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement
The power within the atonement is why we repent and change
Article of Faith #3
"The atonement leaves no traces, no tracks.  It heals and what it
heals stays healed"
It heals, it returns to normal, it is cured
The atonement bears no scars
If we truly repent he will atone
The atonement can wash clean any stain no matter how long or how difficult
Missionary is an atonement delivery system
What it leaves no scars on us it leaves on him
He has the ability to heal, he has the ability to cleanse
2nd Nephi 2:6-9
Faith must be centered in Jesus Christ to receive salvation
Faith is kindled by those who bear testimony
Faith must be sought after until it grows from a tiny seed in to a tree

HOW TO DEVELOP FAITH
Phase 1
Kindle- encourage, stimulate, spark, ignite
Phase 2
Obedience

Teach: What doctrine understood will make kyudosha want to keep invitation?
Testify: Testify that it's from God
Invite: What do they need? What will they accept? Invite them to act in God
Promise blessings: Promise blessings from obedience to that law
Follow up:

We are unprofitable in this work, all glory goes to the Lord
Luke 17
Not my will, but thine be done
Great and powerful Faith is our greatest defense against the adversary
Choose the harder right rather than the easier wrong

It was awesome to be in the presence of an Apostle, a modern day
Peter, James, or John.
Wow I just love how powerful their speeches are.
Well really nothing extraordinary to report other than I'm over a
month in to my mission and my Japanese is trash compared to what I
need it to be. That doesn't matter though cause I read in PMG this
week that I can perform miracles according to the Lord's will. So when
he needs me to speak fluent Japanese to someone during my time there I
will be more than ready.

This gospel saves lives and I cannot wait to be the delivery man!
