Week 10 - I am in Japan/日本 - 27 June 2016

Alright well I am in Japan. The flight was good and it didn't feel at all as
long as it was. The plane food is garbage but of course a blessing to
have. My area is called Joestsu and I am pretty dang close to the
coast. No light house. Sorry Steve but it is nice out here. We have
the best rice in the world in my Zone so that's what's up! As of right
now the "church" (just an office we are renting or something) is
literally next door to our apartment. We have about 4 or 5 solid
members, so we are a Group not even a Branch and apparently I will
give a talk about once a month. There is another blessing. Well my
apartment is great it's just my trainer and I so we have a lot of
room. I love the futon I sleep on probably because I'm so exhausted at
the end of each day that I could sleep on rocks and not wake up until
the alarm goes off. Also I got a bike and I named it Kame, as in
turtle, cause it's colored like a turtle and way faster than my last
companion whom I told all the Nihonjin that he moved at turtle speed.
Therefore I thought that that was a good name. Next my companion has
one more transfer after this one so he will train me and go home. He
is from Fukuoka, shouts out to Travis, it's good for your health. Also
he worked in the office for a while where he got pretty good at
English. So right now we are trying to make the transition to Japanese
as much as possible but both keep forgetting. We have like two
potential investigators and days of inactive members. The work here is
also really slow, kame no hayasa, to be exact. Everyone just says im
not interested or I'm Buddhist. I got tired of people saying that so I
asked a guy which sect or what ever and he said I'm not really sure I
have to go anyways and walked off. Dingus if only you knew. Also we
have one person who comes to eikaiwa which is free English classes
that we teach and he is already fluent so that's kinda upsetting. Also
we tried to talk to some wannabe chinpira tachi and one of them had
this poster of a girl except it was inappropriate and he was
showing it to us like he was trying to curse us or shun us or whatever
and I just started laughing at him. Nihonjin man.
Also I have already ridden the Shinkansen, regular train, a bus for
five hours on my way to my first area through the country side of
Japan, which was beautiful and I have felt two earthquakes already but
they were tiny and other people didn't t even stop what they were
doing. Also (Mom) I have already eaten fish, kimchi and nato. Today I
went to an all you can eat buffet and put down tons of food. Nice work
there, I know.

My fist day in my area we were on our way to teach what would have
been my first lesson to an investigator except he cancelled as we were
on our way so that was upsetting. We also taught another man probably
about thirty. His name is Aoyama and he's a good guy I told him about
prophets and apostasy and the Book of Mormon. We invited him to church
and he said he would come next Sunday so pray for him that his heart
will be softened and that he will read the Book of Mormon and come to
church.

Also please pray for me to receive the gift of tongues and be
able to discern prompting of the spirit so that we can have success
in Joestsu as I will probably be here for a while and I want to make
it a whole lot better before I leave. It's frustrating as I feel like
I could do more if I could speak better Japanese but all is well.

I know that the Lord has called me to be successful in Japan and that
there are people here in Joestsu waiting for Ogata Chōrō and I to find
them. Something big is going to happen here soon I can feel it. We
just have to get it started. There is so much potential for this area
and I want to be apart of its rise.

Well not sure what else to say other than I'm a boss on my bike and I
haven't ridden into the ocean and drowned yet!

Well lots of love from here in Japan!
Enjoy girls camp
Love, Elder Bloomfield
